How can France become a leader in innovation?
Europe must act quickly to ensure its economic security in the face of current threats. The European Commission has proposed defensive measures, but debates persist about the best approach. How can Europe effectively coordinate its actions to guarantee its economic security, and what role does international cooperation play in this strategy?

On the 2nd of February, Institut Montaigne welcomed Ludger Schuknecht, vice-president and former general secretary adjoint of the OECD, to discuss with François Godement, Senior Advisor for Asia at Institute Montaigne, to discuss the prospects and perspectives of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) for Europe on the theme “Assessing Europe’s participation and prospects in the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank”. As a relatively new structure - founded in 2016 - the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank has come a long way, but still has a lot to learn. During this discussion, Ludger Schuknecht discussed the challenges it now faces, particularly in realising its vision whilst remaining financially sustainable and accountable. He further discussed what the future of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank looks like in the face of multilateralism and climate change and the role which Europe will play in this future.
