Yann Algan

Senior fellow

Yann Algan is the Dean of Pre-Experience Programs and Professor of Economics at HEC, member of the Conseil d'Analyse Économique and the Conseil Scientifique de l'Éducation Nationale. He was previously Founding Dean of the School of Public Affairs at Sciences Po.
 
His research focuses on trust and well-being in organizations and societies, and the evaluation of public policies, particularly in the areas of education, employment and management policies.
 
In 2009, he received the Best Young French Economist Award. His books on trust and French society received the best essay prize (LIRE) in 2007 and the best economics book prize in 2008 ("La société de défiance", Éditions rue d'Ulm), and the high school prize for the best economics book in 2012 and in 2018 (La fabrique de la défiance, Les Français, le Bonheur et l'Argent). His research is published in renowned international journals and has been awarded two ERC European research grants: the first in 2010 for the "Trust" project and the second in 2015, in the Consolidator category, for the "SOWELL" project on social preferences, well-being and public policies. He is a member of the Institut Universitaire de France.
