Ronja Kempin

Senior Fellow at the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik

Dr. Ronja Kempin (born 1974) is Senior Fellow of the EU/Europe Research Group at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik, SWP) in Berlin. The SWP advises the Bundestag and the German government as well as the business community on foreign policy issues. From 2010 to 2014 she was head of the EU External Relations Research Group at the SWP. In 2014 she worked as an advisor and consultant in the policy department (Division 202, CSDP) of the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.

Ronja Kempin's research focuses on European security and defence policy issues, in particular the EU's Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) as well as France and Franco-German relations.

Ronja Kempin studied political science in Marburg, Berlin, Rennes and Paris and earned her doctorate at the Otto Suhr Institute for Political Science at Freie Universität Berlin. Her work stations include the German Bundestag, the Copenhagen Peace Research Institute, the Institut de Relations Internationales et Stratégiques in Paris and the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA.
