Reiner Hoffmann

President of the German Trade Union Confederation

Reiner Hoffmann started his professional career as an apprentice at the pharmaceutical group Farbwerke Hoechst. He was Director of the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) in Brussels and President of the ETUC in 2003 and 2007. His main areas of activity at the European Trade Union Confederation were European economic and employment policy, structural and industrial policy, co-determination and corporate social responsibility. In 2009, he was elected regional director of the Mining, Chemical and Energy Industry Union (IG BCE) and in 2014 he was elected president of the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB).
