Cross-border data flows govern almost everything we do today. States are facing a dilemma between protection of their data and benefits from free-flow. Europe faces a challenge from the US, the dominating actor in the digital world, and a threat from China’s authoritarian model. Europe must make choices to strengthen its position in the digital field.
Institut Montaigne’s Special Advisor Michel Duclos will release an important policy paper on the future of transatlantic relations from a French standpoint. He calls on Europeans to take the lead and put forward their own ideas, or even their own initiatives, rather than expect the future US administration to set the way forward.
On this occasion, Bruce Stokes, Executive Director of the Transatlantic Task Force: Together or Alone? at the German Marshall Fund of the United States, and Tara Varma, Policy Fellow and Director of the Paris office of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), will join Michel Duclos for a Webinar to discuss his set of policy ideas. Discussions will be moderated by Mahaut de Fougières, Policy Officer at Institut Montaigne.
