Welcome back to our weekly specials! Today we focus on our just-concluded series, Ukraine Shifting the World Order, following a month in a half of sustained publications. Russia's invasion of Ukraine pushed us to consider the following questions: how is the war reshaping the world order? Are we on the cusp of a new era? To answer these, we turned to a group of renowned experts from around the world in India, Brazil, the US, as well as countries across Africa and Europe. They help us understand the factors pushing us away from a parochial Western-centric world. Some conclusions stand out. First, the EU acted unitedly but risks of divisions between Member States remain. Second, the war precipitated a number of regional realignments, mostly in Asia. Third, there seems to be a broad consensus on the fact that new power centers are emerging in the geopolitical landscape, and in this line of reasoning, the “Global South” is bound to detach itself from the existing world order.
