Institut Montaigne’s monthly newsletter

This week we are thrilled to introduce a brand-new issue of China Trends, unwrapping the core elements of Chinese foreign policy narratives as the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party opened in Beijing. From climate mitigation to economic governance, China seeks an active role. We turn to EU-India relations ahead of COP27, where a growing awareness of climate change opens up space for increased cooperation. Zooming out of international affairs and into domestic politics with the approaching US midterms. Three weeks out from the November election, we dive into this year’s key stakes. We end with three new contributions, each pertaining to a different series. The first, from Financial Instability, studies the main moments behind Chinese financial instability over the past 40 years. The second, from Ukraine Shifting the World Order, focuses on the balancing act of Turkish foreign policy. Finally, as part of Unresolved Crises' latest segment, we take an inside look at Yemen’s enduring civil war, identifying possible pathways for peace.
