Emel Akçalı

Associate professor of International Relations at Kadir Has University in Istanbul

Emel Akçalı is an associate professor of International Relations at Kadir Has University in Istanbul, Turkey, and Senior Lecturer of International Relations at Swansea University in the UK. Her research and teaching interests are environmental geopolitics, post-human International Relations, critical security studies, non-Western and alternative globalist geopolitical discourses and non-Western International Relations. She has thus far published in Political Geography, Security Dialogue, Antipode, Eurasian Geography and Economics, the Annals of the American Association of Geographers, Geopolitics, Journal of International Relations and Development, South European Society and Politics and Journal of Refugee Studies. She is the author of Chypre: Un enjeu géopolitique actuel (l’Harmattan, Paris, 2009), and editor of Neoliberal Governmentality and the Future of the State in the MENA (Palgrave, 2015).
